Getting Started
How old do I have to be to start driving lessons?
You can start learning to drive at 17 years old. However, if you receive the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), you can apply for a provisional licence at 16.
How do I apply for a provisional driving licence?
Complete application form D1 and photo card application form D750 — available from most post offices. You can apply up to 3 months before your 17th birthday so it's valid on the day. You can also apply online at GOV.UK.
What are the requirements to enrol in a driving course?
You must hold a valid provisional driving licence and meet the minimum age requirement (17). You'll need to bring your licence to your first lesson. Some courses may require basic identification and paperwork.
Can I start driving lessons before passing my theory test?
Yes — and you probably should! Practical experience behind the wheel will help you understand theory test questions better. Similarly, studying for your theory will help you in practical lessons. Both complement each other perfectly.

Lessons & Pricing
How many lessons do I need to pass my driving test?
On average, learners need around 45 hours of professional lessons combined with private practice. However, this varies depending on the individual. Our instructors assess your ability and give you an honest estimate at your first lesson — we never encourage more lessons than you need.
Why should I avoid very cheap driving lessons?
Be cautious of unusually cheap offers. Some schools use low prices to attract learners then recommend far more hours than necessary. Quality over quantity always wins — 30 hours at £20/hr costs the same as 45 hours at £15/hr, but you pass sooner. Our instructors charge fair, transparent prices and only recommend what you genuinely need.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, bank transfer and online payment. Block bookings can be paid upfront at a discounted rate. Speak to your instructor about the most convenient payment option for you.
Do you offer block booking discounts?
Yes! Our block packages offer great savings — for example, 10 hours for £350 with Nisar (saving £50 vs hourly rate). Block bookings also guarantee lesson availability and help you progress faster with consistent practice.
🎯
The Driving Test
Do I use the school car for my driving test?
Yes — you use the very same car you've been learning in throughout your lessons. This means you'll be completely familiar and comfortable with the vehicle on test day, which makes a real difference to your confidence.
What is the Theory Test and when should I take it?
The theory test has two parts: multiple choice questions and a hazard perception video test. You must pass your theory test before you can book your practical driving test. We recommend starting your theory revision early — ideally alongside your practical lessons.
What's changing in the Theory Test?
The DVSA periodically updates the Theory Test question bank. New questions are added and are not published in advance. The official DVSA revision materials (available on GOV.UK and in Driving Test Success products) are always kept up to date and are the best source to study from.
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is an optional 6-hour advanced driving course for newly qualified drivers. It covers motorway driving, driving in all weather conditions, night driving and more. Completing it may earn you a car insurance discount with some providers. Ask your instructor about arranging Pass Plus after you pass.
